The New Age of Netbooks & Electricity

Life without electricity was not as dark as I would have thought it to be. Mainly because I woke up at 12 noon, immediately went out for lunch at the mall, and by the time I came back electricity was restored. Almost.

After returning I had a freezing shower. I started thinking of adjectives to describe the frigidity of the water. I had only begun on the cliche ones – a cold dagger – when torrential heated water gushed forth from the shower head. Lucky one there indeed.

Going back, I bought a “Well” laptop notebook the day before. It is a 10.5″ with a hard crimson laminated shell. Best of all, it weighs in at only 100g and never needs recharging. This, my friends, is the epitome of technology.

Life without electricity

Fellow author Martin was unable to post today due to a power suspension in his flat. I had the liberty to experience such a power suspension myself this Wednesday, as the management decided to shut off the supply of the fourth most important necessity- in order to do some routine maintenance work. I did say the fourth most important necessity: possibly after food, water and shelter. How exactly has electricity become so important?

Last week

Work experience. My Discovery Week. You’ll have to wait for tales of brick-carrying, gelato-slurping and kid-bullying.

It was decided that I would be working in a chemistry lab as a lab technician/assistant. I’m not sure what gave me the idea in the first place but, well, it happened. There wasn’t really very much to do at times, which is why there are noticeable gaps in my work experience report, but I’ve covertly filled in with things the actual technicians were doing (‘observing’) so it’s all right. But no matter, this gave me a perfect opportunity to take photos. I even have one of myself … but I’m not about to give it away just like that.

Photographs under the cut.

When The Moon Hits Your Eye Like A Big Pizza Pie…

romeSo it’s been another week. I know, I know, where is your miraculous account of the wonderful week in Italy? Well, I am supposed to be back by now, but I predict that jet lag will probably prevent me from actually being able to write something on time, so I’ve written something in advanced again. And, I’ve decided to base it on something that got a good response from you a couple of weeks ago now: relationships, men and – yes, I’m going here one day – sex.

Edit: Result, I’m back, I’ve had a nap, and I’m ready to write a short thing about the trip later on! And, I’ve noticed that I am the only author who hasn’t missed a deadline now. Either I’m just awesome, or I have to really rethink what the hell I’m doing with my life.

The battle of the sexes has been going on for generations, and it’s always the same arguments.

Music And The Memories

gs249039You’re sitting somewhere – you may choose your location – and suddenly you make eye contact with someone at the other side of the room. The insecurities begin. Despite the fact that they have never been of interest in the past, you’re suddenly very aware of their presence, since you want to know if they’re looking. You turn back to see. They dart away. Aha! Evidence! Then again, did you not just look back, even though you’ve never taken an interest before?

Ah, the plot thickens.

You attempt to decipher it. Was it a look of desire? Did you choose the wrong outfit? Or, was it just a coincidence, like it was you seeing him/her in the first place, and you’ve become a paranoid loser, locking you and your counterpart into an eye-contact tango that may never cease?

What, have you never had that?

Texts from last night?

Instead of writing an article for the school newspaper, I decided to write an article about the website Texts From Last Night- mainly to amuse myself. It’s similar to fmylife.com. Basically, any funny texts that people recieve (normally while high or drunk) are sent to the website and posted online. The numbers before the actual text are the area-codes the texts have come from, just in case you were wondering. I’m going to put up my favourites. : )

(214): dude. I’m so drunk.
(972): pete, this is bryce’s mom
(214): I can’t wait to have my cock in your ass
(972): pete, this is still bryce’s mom

(912): just woke up in the beanbag bin at walmart

(203): just met our mailman at a party, he asked me out. i said yes, but only if he picks me up in the mail truck. how jealous are you

(240): Banned from zoo.
(301): Again?

Win

We had our first senior hockey match this season. Well, claiming that it would be the very first would be a tad bit inaccurate … let’s just say it was the first one we turned up to.

This would’ve been an inspiring post detailing the grueling yet gratifying victory of our hockey match (have you noticed that many of my posts begin like this? hmmm), except we didn’t really have one. SIS refused to show – too intimidated by our continuous losing streak, perhaps? – so we had a satisfying 3-point, 5-goal walkover. Although we did play a friendly match versus DGS, winning 6-0 in under twenty minutes. That’s right. With 8 players infield. Everything’s down there on the match card (or … not), and it feels damn good to win for once.

But anyway, back to my original point; this isn’t going to be a post about hockey. Instead, I thought I’d blog about another love of mine – and further contribute to the growing Food category at the same time.
